Welcome to our SVUSD Title I Program

Sierra Vista Unified School District (SVUSD) is committed to ensuring every student has access to a high-quality education and the support needed to succeed. Through the Title I program, the district focuses on strong family partnerships, smooth transitions between grade levels, and targeted academic support for students who need it most.

Strong Family and Community Partnerships

SVUSD believes student success is strongest when schools and families work together.

To support this partnership, the district:

  • Hosts an annual District Advisory Meeting with school leaders and parent representatives to review student data and plan engagement activities.

  • Requires schools to document invitations, agendas, and attendance at family engagement events to ensure consistent outreach.

  • Works closely with private schools through regular visits and collaboration to support families served through Title I.

Family feedback helps guide communication efforts. District surveys show that 95% of families prefer communication through email and have reliable internet access, so SVUSD is expanding digital communication to keep families informed.

Helping Students Start School Ready

SVUSD supports young learners by coordinating with early childhood programs and helping families prepare for kindergarten.

Transition opportunities include:

  • Kinder Round-Up events where families visit schools and meet teachers. (but we changed this??)

  • Summer kindergarten screenings to identify student needs before school begins.

  • Curriculum Nights to help families understand grade-level expectations.

  • Meet-the-Teacher events so students can become comfortable with their classroom before the first day of school.

These programs help students begin school confident and prepared.

Supporting Transitions Between Schools

SVUSD provides structured support as students move through important educational milestones.

Elementary to Middle School

  • Student campus tours

  • Meetings with middle school counselors and principals

Middle School to High School

  • High school orientation events

  • Course planning with counselors

High School to College or Careers

  • College and career counseling

  • Four-year academic planning

  • Dual or concurrent college enrollment opportunities

  • Partnerships with local employers and colleges

These experiences help students explore interests and plan for their future after graduation.

Targeted Academic Support

Beginning next school year, Buena High School will operate a Title I Targeted Assistance Program designed to provide additional academic support to students who need it most.

Key features include:

  • Universal academic screening to identify students needing support

  • Students scoring in the lowest 25% may receive Title I services

  • Evidence-based interventions aligned with state academic standards

  • Regular progress monitoring and review of student data

The district works to ensure students receive the help they need while remaining engaged in their regular classroom learning.
