We are writing to inform you about an incident that occurred this morning during our morning drop-off routine, involving a delivery truck in the parking lot. This morning, there was a close call involving a student who was walking in the parking lot and a delivery truck. Thanks to the quick action of one of our staff members, the student was safely guided out of harm's way as the truck was backing up. We want to express our deepest gratitude to our vigilant staff for their swift response and dedication to ensuring the safety of our students. It's important to note that the delivery truck involved in this incident is not employed with either SVUSD or SFE, our food service provider. Following the incident, our administration promptly contacted the trucking company responsible, and as a result, the driver involved will no longer be permitted to make deliveries to any SVUSD school. We take the safety of our students and staff very seriously, and incidents like these serve as reminders of the importance of remaining vigilant, especially during busy times such as drop-off and pick-up. We encourage everyone to remain aware of their surroundings and to prioritize safety at all times. Please rest assured that we are taking all necessary steps to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future, including reviewing our procedures and reinforcing safety protocols. 🌟 Exciting day at JCMS! 🎓 Our 6th graders got a sneak peek into their future home for 7th grade. After a warm welcome from our Assistant Principal Skarhus, the JCMS Student Council led them on an awesome campus tour. They soaked in the sights and sounds, including a special performance by the JCMS band on our beautiful school grounds. One highlight of the day? Learning about elective classes for next year! Today, before dismissal, a single student discipline issue required additional resources and SVPD was dispatched to Huachuca Mountain The matter was resolved. At no time were any students or staff in any danger.

🍕🎉 What a fantastic day of learning and fun at Peter Piper Pizza for our Huachuca Mountain 1st graders! 🎉🍕 Our young learners embarked on an exciting field trip where they delved into the world of fractions through the medium of delicious pizzas! 🍕 They explored colors, shapes, and even got hands-on experience crafting their very own pizzas, which were baked to perfection while they continued their educational journey. 🔬✨Tuesday was a day brimming with scientific exploration at SVUSD! 🌟 The morning kicked off with an exhilarating live stream to NASA for Carmichael students. 🚀 Selected Bears had the incredible opportunity to engage with Arizona native Chris Birch via Zoom, asking burning questions and delving into the wonders of space. 🌌 Meanwhile, over at Huachuca Mountain, second-grade classes embarked on an adventure to the UofA South observatory, diving deep into the mysteries of the stars and planets. 🌟 But the learning didn't stop there! They also explored the enchanting Discovery Garden, discovering the secrets of plant life and ecosystems. 🌱 Simultaneously, the Dust Devils at PDS were immersed in an exciting visit from the AZ Science Center. 💡 From coding to slime-making, combustion experiments to becoming junior detectives, they embraced hands-on learning with enthusiasm and curiosity. 🧪🔍 What an extraordinary day of scientific discovery for our students! 🎉 #SVUSDScienceDay #HandsOnLearning #ExploringTheUnknown

Huachuca Mountain is partnering with the Arizona Science Center to provide fun, engaging activities for students while teachers receive training to integrate STEM activities in their classrooms.
