Last night, my Buena freshmen daughter was painting watercolor Christmas cards to present to her teachers as thank you messages. Sitting with her on the couch, I happened to read a new report ranking Arizona at 49th for educational funding in the country. This statistic, which has remained relatively unchanged for nearly a decade, continues to worry me for the future of our state. Teaching and learning matters for our kids! I reflected on the impact that my childrenβs teachers have had on their lives, and I thought about the role of teachers in my own life. (Do you remember your kindergarten teacher? Mine was Ms. Simeoni.)
Good teachers can change the trajectory of our lives, yet Arizona is faced with a tremendous teacher shortage. Despite this huge shortage, Huachuca Mountain is blessed with a full, certified teaching staff. Teachers at Huachuca Mountain continue to show up for our kidsβ¦if you missed it, Huachuca Mountain is ranked #1 in the entire county among elementary schools!
As we move into the holiday season, please take a moment to briefly share with your childβs teacher how they impact your child, and thank them for all they do! Wishing you the very best holiday season with your family. Go Bolts!
