Energy Day in 6th grade at PDS!
Our 6th graders wrapped up their Energy Unit with an action packed Energy Day, and it was a blast!
Students rotated through STEM stations testing Thermal Energy with ice melting contest.
Force and Motion with balloon cars where finalists competed and winners earned gold medals--the excitemnt was real.
We explored potential and kinetic energy using rubber band sling shots to knock over cans, and tested chemical energy and it's transfer into motion by launching bottle rockets with baking soda and vinegar.
A huge thank you to SSVEC for bringing out their bucket truck and teaching students how to safe around electricity. WaterWise was here today too teaching us about water energy and how this important resource is being impacted--even right here in Sierra Vista.
We are so grateful for our parent volunteers who manned our stations , Cochise County Sheriff's Department and Deputy Felix, who helped students finish answering questions on their recording forms.
None of this would have been possible without the support of our amazing community parentees and volunteers. Thank you for showing our students what learning looks like the dustdevil way!

ππͺοΈπA HUGE thank you to Brittany from the Nancy J Brua animal shelter for coming out and sharing her expertise with us. She taught us so much about how to be safe around animals, how to care for them properly, and how to keep both animals and people safe. We also loved her reminder about the importance of being mindful of our environment and the role we all play in protecting it.
We truly appreciate Brittany's time, her passion and dedication she has for her community and we love that her family is a part of the Pueblo Del Sol Dust Devil family!ππͺοΈπ

Good Morning PDS Families,
We are happy to share that power has been restored at PDS, and the school day will continue as normal.
Due to the earlier power outage, todayβs lunch will consist of cereal and milk as our cafeteria works to safely resume operations. Parents are welcome to bring a lunch for their student if they prefer.
Please note:
Kindergarten students were able to eat lunch as scheduled.
Lunch originally prepared for 5th and 6th grade students cannot be served, as it is no longer within the required safe temperature range.
Some grade levels may experience a delayed lunch time as we work through these adjustments.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize student safety and well-being. We appreciate your continued support.
Sincerely,
Sincerely,
Principal McDaniel

Good Morning PDS Families,
We would like to provide an update regarding the ongoing power outages at PDS.
SSVEC has shared that the current estimated time for power restoration is 1:30 PM today. We are scheduled to receive another update from SSVEC at 11:30 AM to determine whether power may be restored sooner.
At this time, enough food was prepared to serve A and B lunches, which includes Kindergarten and 6th grade students. If power is not restored, we will not be able to provide lunch for the remaining grade levels.
At 11:30 AM, a determination will be made regarding whether students will be dismissed early for the day. Parents are welcome to come to campus to pick up their students at any time.
As a reminder, PDS currently does not have phone or internet service, so the school is unable to respond to calls or emails at this time.
We appreciate your patience and understanding and will continue to share updates as soon as they become available.
Sincerely,
Principal McDaniel

Today, PDS staff had to call 911 for a student experiencing a medical emergency. EMS are at PDS and the studentβs parents have been notified. There was no threat or danger to PDS. Thank you to our staff and EMS for their care and quick response.

Today we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. π
He taught us to be kind, fair, and to stand up for what is right.
Letβs remember his dream by using our words to help, our actions to care, and our hearts to include everyone. π
We hope everyone enjoys their day off, and we canβt wait to welcome everyone back at school tomorrow! π

Kindergarten has had an action packed first week back after our winter break!Β There has been lots of excitement and learning happening with the introduction of our new ELA centers.Β We have upgraded from matching capital and lowercase letters and beginning sound centers and replaced it with beanbag "sight" word toss, hide and seek cvc word/picture matching and wipe on wipe off cvc word blending. Writing on our special cabinet paper has been like a magic trick and who doesn't like tossing a beanbag.Β Best part is all the learning that is happening and the excitement that is heard when they get it correct.Β Who says learning can't be fun?

The PDS teachers and staff created a wonderful holiday show for our students right before winter break to celebrate the season and welcome the New Year. We are truly grateful for our amazing students, families, and staff who make PDS such a special community. We wish everyone a very happy holiday filled with joy, rest, and good health in the coming year, and we look forward to welcoming our students back as we begin the New Year together! β¨π

On Thursday, December 18th, Pueblo del Sol Student Council teamed up with Buenaβs JROTC to host the first-ever Reindeer Run at PDS! Families showed up in their most festive outfits and coziest holiday pajamas, ready for a jolly good time. JROTC kept the energy high with running games and line dances, and prizes were awarded for Most Spirited, Best Effort, and Best Dressed. Laughter, music, and holiday cheer filled the afternoon, making it a fun and memorable event for everyone!

All district and school offices will be closed for Winter Break as we take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the season.
We canβt wait to welcome everyone back on January 5, when students return to school.
Wishing you a safe, joyful, and relaxing winter break!
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! πβ¨
