Dear Huachuca Mountain Families,
I want to take a moment to partner with you around an important topic that helps us maintain a safe and respectful environment for all students.
As the school year comes to a close, we are seeing an increase in inappropriate behaviors. At times, we see behaviors that students may view as “horseplay,” such as pushing and shoving, piggyback riding, water play, or other playful interactions. While these actions may not be intended to cause harm, they can quickly become unsafe or lead to misunderstandings between students.
Additionally, there are behaviors that go beyond horseplay and involve personal boundaries and privacy. Examples may include actions such as pantsing, inappropriate touching, or misuse of restroom spaces (including looking into stalls). These behaviors are not appropriate in a school setting and are taken seriously, as they impact student dignity, safety, and trust.
We also want families to be aware that, in certain situations, behaviors involving personal boundaries or safety may require further action. This can include school consequences and, in some cases, involvement beyond the school setting. Families always have the right to advocate for their child if they feel their safety or privacy has been impacted.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing with your child:
The importance of respecting personal space and boundaries
Keeping hands and feet to themselves
Using school spaces, including restrooms, appropriately
Understanding that even “joking” behavior can unintentionally cause harm
At Huachuca Mountain, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where all students feel respected. We take concerns seriously and work to address them thoughtfully and fairly.
If you see something, say something. Encouraging students to speak up helps us support them and respond quickly when concerns arise.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our school community.

Our elementary students had a fantastic morning at Buena High School, where they were invited to the Klein Center for the Performing Arts for a special performance of Miss Nelson Is Missing!!
Our talented Buena Theatre Arts students brought this classic children’s story to life in a fun and engaging way—creating an unforgettable experience just for our younger learners. From laughter to excitement, it was clear that fun was had by all!
We love opportunities like this to connect our schools and showcase our amazing Colts to our future Colts. The future is bright! 🎭💛

✨ Celebrating Dedication. Honoring Legacy. ✨
On Tuesday, we had the privilege of celebrating some of the most dedicated and inspiring members of the Sierra Vista Unified family. 💙
This special evening was all about recognizing the incredible employees who have reached milestone years of service — 10, 15, 20 years and beyond — and honoring those who are beginning an exciting new chapter in retirement.
Together, these 37 outstanding staff members represent an incredible 390 years of service to our students, schools, and community. That impact is immeasurable.
A special thank you to the Education Foundation of Sierra Vista for sponsoring this meaningful event and providing our retirees with a special gift as they begin their next chapter. We are also grateful to Buena Culinary for catering a wonderful reception for our honorees prior to the presentation.
To our longevity honorees and retirees: thank you for your commitment, your passion, and the difference you’ve made in countless lives. You are the heart of what it means to be SVUSD.

Huachuca Mountain has TALENT! Friday, our students showed off their singing, dancing, piano, baritone and joke abilities! We are proud of all of the participants for being so brave, and thank you to our students in the audience for being so supportive!

In the face of heartbreak, our SVUSD family showed the true meaning of compassion and unity. 💙
Following the loss of two beloved members of the Bella Vista Bobcat family, students from across all of our schools came together to create hearts filled with messages of love and support.
On Wednesday evening, after campuses had quieted, our principals walked the halls of Bella Vista, carefully hanging each heart. Together, they filled the office and cafeteria with warmth and surrounded the space between the two classrooms with an outpouring of care—creating a powerful reminder that no one grieves alone.
We are incredibly proud of how our SVUSD family has come together to lift up one another during this difficult time. 💙

This week we proudly celebrated our amazing military children!
Students helped lead the Pledge of Allegiance, shared their journeys by placing stars on the map of places they've lived, and our whole school showed support by wearing purple.
We are so grateful for our military families and the strength, resilience, and pride they bring to our community.
