The Bolts are proud to support the annual Edward Jones Food Drive. We are collecting non-perishable foods to support local food pantries. The Food Drive has started and we are collecting items through November 1st. The class with the most collected items will win a pizza party provided by Edward Jones. Thank you for your support.

Huachuca Mountain families come out and join us for our PTO Sock Hop Family Dance on Friday, October 20th. There will be refreshments available and a photo wall. October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying can impact a studentβs education, physical, emotional health, and their safety and well-being.
Together we can create communities that are kinder, more inclusive and accepting for all students. In support of National Bully Prevention Month we are encouraging all SVUSD students and staff to wear orange on October 18th to show unity against bullying.

Does your student have a computer at home for their personal use? Would you like for your student to be creative and explore? Or being able to work on assignments from home on a school device? SVUSD is pleased to offer the opportunity to all parents to check out a home Chromebook for all registered SVUSD students. Through the Emergency Connectivity Fund we were able to purchase Chromebooks for home use in order to close the homework gap and support connectivity for all students. For more information please contact Atina Haynes at Atina.Haynes@svps.k12.az.us or visit the office at your school to receive the application.

All SVUSD schools and offices will be closed for fall break from October 9th through 13th. We are wishing all SVUSD families a safe and joyful fall break.

Bolt Power at its best last weekend where a Huachuca Mountain team of employees took part in the 17th Annual Bearcat Pull for Special Olympics. The ladies gave it their all and pulled the Bearcat 25 feet!

Second grade Bolts were completely mesmerized by dinosaurs last week thanks to the amazing staff at the Henry F. Hauser Museum. The students had the opportunity to learn about dinosaur fossils found here in Cochise County. They got to be paleontology artists by creating their very own dino. Lots of stories were read and students roamed the room like the dinosaurs did millions of years ago. Thank you so much to the City of Sierra Vista Library and the Henry F. Hauser Museum for a wonderful educational experience!

At this time, we are going to have a delayed dismissal due to lightning. Students will be held until lightning is no longer within a 10 mile range. This includes walkers, bikers, car loop and bus riders. For today's storm alert, I ask that you wait in your vehicle and allow time for dismissal to proceed normally. Arizona storms typically blow through quickly. When such storms occur, delaying dismissal is required by policy. Coming to the office to pick up your child creates a situation that is counter to the safe environment we are trying to create. Thank you for your consideration.

We have received the all clear for the weather delay. Buses have departed and walkers have been released. Thank you for your patience.
