We are excited to kick off our first home football game of the year this Friday at 7:00 pm as we take on the defending state runner-up, ALA Gilbert North. It promises to be an exciting night under the lights, and we look forward to filling the stands with our Buena pride and spirit!
Our Varsity Colts are off to a 2-0 start, and this Friday brings some exciting milestones to watch for:
β’ Michael Lujan is just 50 yards away from reaching 2,000 career rushing yards.
β’ Coach Thomas has the opportunity to earn his 50th career win at Buena.
As a thank you for your support, all district staff members receive free admission and may bring one guest free of charge. Please be sure to present your district ID card at the gate for entry.
For all other guests, both cash and digital tickets will be available. If purchasing a digital ticket, please visit http://www.gofan.co prior to arrival.
An attached document is included with this email to help clarify what items are and are not permitted at games. Please review this information before attending so we can ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Good Afternoon Buena Families,
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you for your flexibility, understanding, and quick response during todayβs unexpected early release due to HVAC issues in our building. I am so proud of how our students and staff handled the situation and subsequent early release. They showed patience and understanding as we tried to move classrooms and troubleshoot the temperature issues before making the difficult choice to release students. Unfortunately, our HVAC system had to have a part replaced, but thanks to our maintenance staff, we will be able to operate as normal tomorrow, Friday, 9/5/25.
We understand that changes to the regular schedule can be disruptive, and we are truly grateful for your cooperation in ensuring a smooth and safe dismissal for all students. Your support allowed us to act quickly in prioritizing the comfort and well-being of our school community.
We appreciate our maintenance, food service, and transportation staff members who supported our students. We were able to open the cafeteria to offer food for students and get buses activated as quickly as possible.
Thank you again for your continued partnership and for being such an essential part of our school! We are looking forward to having students on campus tomorrow and will start our day off with a time-honored Buena tradition of Storming the Halls!
Thank you,
Buena Administration

Dear Buena Families,
Due to unexpected air conditioning issues, Buena High School will be releasing students at 10:15 AM this morning. While crews were making repairs to the AC units, additional failures occurred, causing the system to stop working. As classrooms have become too warm, we believe it is best for students to leave the building.
Buses will run beginning at 10:15 AM to take students home.
Families may also pick up their students starting at 10:15 AM.
Students who are unable to go home will be relocated to the Klein Center, where the temperature is more comfortable. Lunch will be provided for those students.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to keep students safe and comfortable. Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Sierra Vista Unified School District

YOUR BUENA COLTS ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR THE WEEK OF 8/25/25!
Kaylee ran her first varsity race as a freshman in the Rich River Rattler on Friday, August 29. She was Buenas only female entrant in the competition. She placed 29th out of 49. Kaylee is a very hard working athlete. We can't wait to see what she accomplishes this season. Congrats Kaylee!
Ricardo Brooks was a huge part of our win against Cienega last Friday. He rushed for 140 yards and had 3 touchdowns. Ricardo has a great work ethic and is a leader on and off the field. Congrats Ricardo!

πβ¨ Ever wonder what goes on behind the curtain of a professional theatre? Buenaβs Stagecraft (Theatre Technology) students are getting a front-row seat to it all!
They kicked off the year with a backstage tour of the Klein Center β including a climb to the grid 53 feet above the stage floor! π‘
Taught by industry pros Mrs. Duerk and Ms. Hampton, Stagecraft CTE classes give students hands-on experience in every technical aspect of theatre: costume design, lighting, sound engineering, and stage management.
As students grow in the program, they can join the crews for Buenaβs five annual mainstage shows β and even land paid technician positions for community events hosted at the Klein Center. π‘πΆ
Stagecraft is just one of the incredible CTE opportunities at Buena that prepare students for life beyond high school. π

Fall sports start this week!

BHS will host our Open House on August 13th from 5-7. This is a great opportunity to meet your studentsβ teachers and learn about their classes for the year. Please make sure you have access to your studentβs schedule either through Parentvue or a picture, as you will travel to your studentβs classes. Prior to the Open House starting, you will have the opportunity to hear some of our choir students perform. Please note that if your student has 0 hour, you will have the opportunity to meet their teacher at the end of the event.
