Today, Buena staff called 911 for a student experiencing a medical emergency. Emergency Medical Services responded immediately and are on campus. The studentβs parents have been notified.
There was no threat or danger to Buena High School. We are grateful to our staff and EMS personnel for their quick action, professionalism, and care in responding to this situation.
This medical emergency occurred during our scheduled ALICE lockdown drill. We want to thank our students and staff for their patience, focus, and cooperation as we navigated both the drill and a real-life medical situation at the same time. While the medical emergency was serious and appropriately prioritized, it also provided an additional layer of real-world context during our safety drill, reinforcing the importance of preparedness and calm, coordinated response.
At this time, the drill has concluded, and campus operations have returned to normal.
Thank you for your continued support of Buena High School.
Thank you,
Buena High School Administration

During a recent visit to Sierra Vista, Governor Katie Hobbs had the opportunity to meet with the Cochise County Superintendentβs Student Advisory Council β a dynamic group of student leaders representing schools across the county.
We are especially proud that SIX SVUSD students serve on this council:
π Trevor F. from Town & Country Elementary
π Sadie M. from JCMS
π Mirabella C., Greta S., Jason Y., and Veronica J. from Buena
A special congratulations to Veronica J., who serves as the Councilβs President, and Jason Y., who serves as Vice President! π
Students shared what itβs like to attend school in Cochise County and discussed their ideas and vision for the future with Governor Hobbs. Their thoughtful insights, leadership, and commitment to improving their schools and communities truly represent the best of SVUSD.
We are incredibly proud of these students for stepping up, speaking out, and helping shape the future. π
