Buena will be hosting Colt Days July 17th through 21st from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Colt Days is an opportunity for all students to come to Buena and get their ID cards, lunch documents, parking passes, nurse documents, and Yearbook photos taken. Freshmen also have the opportunity to pick up their Chromebooks.

Buena High School's east student parking lot will be under paving construction the week of July 10-16 and closed to all traffic and parking. Students parking for the Summer Academy will need to use the south teacher lot (by the theatre) and all traffic will need to use Giulio Cesare Ave to access the school, Fighting Colt Drive will be closed.
For students riding buses, they will be dropped off and pick up in the staff lot located off of the cafeteria.
Thank you for your understanding as we make improvements to our campus.

Starting July 10th until July 16th the buena student parking lot will be under construction. Please do not drop off students or park in this lot for the time period. Please use the back of the school by the tennis courts.

First official day of football practice is July 31st. Student-athletes will have until August 7th to come out to practice. All athletes must have a practice permit from the athletics office in order to participate. All other sports start August 7th with more information to come!

All school offices will be closed and there will be no Summer Academy classes on Tuesday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. Normal business hours and Summer Academy classes will resume on Wednesday, July 5th. Have a safe and happy holiday!

Buena Colt Football had a great camp today with 72 youth players participating! High school players did a good job working with and helping the campers. Thank you for everyone who helped out.

Summer Academy is cancelled for tomorrow, Friday, June 23 for at Buena High School due to Buena becoming a Red Cross Shelter for people affect by the fire in Hereford.
More information about the shelter will be available through the Red Cross and the Cochise County Sheriffs Office Facebook page, when that information is available. The District cannot provide any further information about the fire, shelter or any other resources.
Summer Academy at Bella Vista, Carmichael, and Village Meadows will continue as normal.

Bus routes for Summer Academy will be running late due to the fires in the Hereford/Palominas area. Buena route 13 and Bella Vista Route 7 will not be able to bring students home in the areas from Ramsey Road to Palominas Road off of Highway 92. Those students will remain at the sites and need to be picked up by a parent.
The remainder of riders those routes are running late.
No other bus routes are affected.

On Tuesday, June 20th improvements to the student parking lot at Buena will begin and continue over the next few weeks. If you are visiting Buena please make sure that you are parking outside of the areas that are marked and barricaded. Various parts of the parking lot will be marked off with maintenance crews working during school hours. As you are driving through, please be aware of these areas and work crews. We ask that all drivers use caution and care when driving in the student parking lot.

Summer Athletics in full swing!


Sierra Vista Unified School District offers to the parents of a child, whose 5th birthday falls between September 1 and January 1 of the upcoming school year, the opportunity to apply for early entrance to kindergarten. The childβs skills and maturity level have to indicate kindergarten readiness. The intent of the early entrance program is to make kindergarten available to younger children who demonstrate above-average performance as measured by the Kindergarten Readiness Test (KRT). The Sierra Vista Unified School District administers the test. Testing dates for the 2023/24 Kindergarten class are June 20th and June 22nd. Our third annual Summer Academy starts tomorrow at Bella Vista Elementary, Carmichael Elementary, Village Meadows Elementary, and Buena High. Buses will be out in the community picking up students and school zones will be in place around the 3 elementary schools. Let the summer fun and learning begin!!!

Our 3rd annual Summer Academy starts on Monday and we are getting the final details in order. We will be hosting schedule pick up for all students this Thursday and Friday from 10am-2pm at the following locations:

Carmichael Cafeteria
Village Meadows Cafeteria
Buena High School Cafeteria
Head over to your student's Summer Academy site during those time to pick up schedules, fill out any necessary paperwork, get bus routes , and get those last minute questions answered.
