Class Notes: Week of November 24th

We are very thankful for our families, and want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday!


Thank you to our families for their support through the A+ judging process. Through the Arizona Education Foundation, schools apply to be certified as A+ schools. We wrote the application for A+ over the summer, and were notified that we moved into the judging round this fall. Our judges came over two days to evaluate classrooms for excellence, meet with students, teachers, staff, and parents! Now the waiting begins again….we won’t find out until February if we are selected!

Huachuca Mountain families, we heard you! Huachuca Mountain will be offering a K-8 program next year. We know our families are looking for options. Next year, 7th graders will be added to our Bolt family. Sports will be offered at JCMS, as well as band, and we are working to make decisions about electives. Students will change classes, and we are creating a Middle School wing to truly give students a middle school experience. We are even planning a Honors program for students. We will hold a variety of Town Hall meetings for parents and community members to share ideas as we develop our program.

Don’t forget, enjoy the week with your family, school resumes on December 1st.

Thankful for you!
As we enter this season of gratitude, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all of our incredible staff and families. Thank you for choosing Sierra Vista Unified School District and for the many ways you make our district a truly special place. Your commitment, support, and belief in our shared vision are what make our community strong.

I hope this Thanksgiving break gives each of you time to rest, recharge, and enjoy meaningful moments with family and friends. We wish you a happy, safe, and joy-filled holiday.

As a reminder, all schools and district offices will be closed during the Thanksgiving break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on December 1.

Today, Huachuca Mountain staff had to call 911 for a student experiencing a medical emergency. EMS are at Huachuca Mountain and the student’s parents have been notified. There was no threat or danger to Huachuca Mountain. Thank you to our staff and EMS for their care and quick response.

Hosted by the Speech, Occupational, Physical Therapy, and Nursing/Health Departments of Sierra Vista Unified School District, this event promises a day full of learning, connection, and hands-on fun.

Join our Buena High School Student Council on Monday, November 10th, from 6:00–7:30 PM, for an evening of fun, fitness, and community giving! 🏃‍♀️💡

Every participant will receive a punch card, and for every mile completed, Student Council will make a donation to a local veterans organization 🇺🇸.

Huachuca Mountain was treated to a sparktacular electricity safety demonstration. Students learned about the impacts of various eletrical possibilities and how to safely handle them. We are so grateful for the opportunity SSVEC provided for our students!

Please join us for our Lightning Bolt PTO Color Run Fundraiser on Friday, November 7! Students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade will run 8:30-9:30am, and 4th, 5th and 6th grade students will run 9:45-10:45am! The color may stain clothing, so dress accordingly. Only school-aged SVUSD siblings may attend. Parent volunteers are needed!
