HM always ends October with a character parade! The students got to decide what the teachers were this year - for every book they read, they put in a vote between Minions, Wizard of Oz, Pumpkins or Disney! Minions won and the teachers delivered! Here are some highlights of the day!

Huachuca Mountain was treated to a sparktacular electricity safety demonstration. Students learned about the impacts of various eletrical possibilities and how to safely handle them. We are so grateful for the opportunity SSVEC provided for our students!

Teachers and staff put on a show for the students after our annual character parade! Ms. Stewart hosted the event while students got to guess which teacher was behind the costume - it was hilarious and so amazing to listen to the kids sing all the songs! Our 6th grade cheer team danced in the background as well to hype everyone up!

Families, Please join us Friday November 14th from 6 to 7pm for Camp Out with a Good Book! Students will go home with a book of their own and a snack! Please see flyer for more details.
Our NEHS (National Elementary Honor Society) and StuCo (Student Council) clubs came together for a western dance! Mrs. Vinch and Coach Mac love a good time and so do our families! Thank you to our PTO for sponsoring the event for our clubs! We cannot wait until the next dance in the spring!

Exciting News!
We are proud to share that Huachuca Mountain has earned the highest score in Cochise County, an incredible recognition of the hard work from our students, staff, and families. Based on our state-issued A rating, we truly are a top choice for education in our area. Additionally, the Governing Board will vote on November 19th to approve Huachuca Mountain as a K–8 school. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
Cool Morning, Warm Afternoon = Sweatshirt Season!
Arizona weather keeps us on our toes! Chilly mornings and warm afternoons mean lots of sweatshirts left behind on the playground. Just last week, more than 20 were collected from the field! Please remind your child to label their clothing and check the Lost and Found regularly. Families are also welcome to stop by and take a look anytime.
Community Partnership Reminder
We are grateful for the continued support of the Methodist Church across the street. Beginning November 7th, food pantry distribution trucks will be in their parking lot on the first Friday of every month. Please be mindful of parking lot entrance and exit signs and use extra caution during these times.
Families in need of food assistance may apply in the church office after 9:30 a.m.

Huachuca Mountain is partnering with Edward Jones for a food drive that will benefit several community aid organizations: Peaches Pantry, The Forgach House, St. Vincent de Paul, Salvation Army, Rita's Pantry, and the Good Neighbor Alliance. The food drive runs through November 18, and the class that collects the most donations of canned and dry food items will win a pizza party! Thank you for helping our community by donating!

Huachuca Mountain Families, it's almost time for our annual Character Parade on Friday, October 31, at 8:30am! The students will take the parade outside to the playgrounds, where parents are welcome to come and watch. Please use the side gate; no parents will be allowed in the building. No full face masks or scary costumes, please. It will be a batty good time!
Former HM student and Miss San Pedro Valley's Teen, Tanyth Lewis, was nice enough to speak to our students about what it means to be kind, courageous and honest! We love what you're doing in the community, and thank you so much for coming back to our school!

Mrs. Perez, teachers and staff joined the 19th Annual Bearcat Pull in support of the Special Olympics! We placed 4th in the womens division!
Our team was called "Straight Outta Study Hall," and we were joined by Bre McDaniel (PDS Principal) and Stephanie Elson (T&C Principal) to help represent Sierra Vista Public Schools! Thank you!
Ms. Thrasher would love if everyone participated in the Polar Plunge in January! This is all to help support Special Olympians!

Students and staff had the ultimate rock paper scissors challenge last week! As part of our 2nd quarter PBIS kickoff, 3rd to 6th grade students each got a bead necklace. They had the chance to play other students and teachers to earn more beads! The finalists had a showdown at the end of the day, and the winner was 6th grader, Airany Lopez!
Fourth grade at Huachuca Mountain had the wonderful opportunity to help pilot a field trip program with the Sierra Vista Historical Society. Students learned about our local history and how it impacts our lives now. We were so grateful for the opportunity!
This month, our PBIS winners could choose to enjoy a Fancy Lunch with the Principal! Students were treated to a special dining experience with fancy dishes and wonderful conversation. Instead of traditional prizes, they took home fun memories and unique experiences to remember.

We are the highest rated school in all of Cochise County! Our state letter grades were release today, and our score places at the highest ranking score in all of the County and ranks us solidly among the top schools in the state. When we think about school choice....we are the top choice !

The Buena SLAC team came to play kickball last week against our 4th, 5th and 6th grade students! Students were able to purchase the game using their PBIS points! 4th and 5th grade lost the game but our 6th grade beat the high schoolers in a 13 to 4 win!
