Our schools have been buzzing with activity! 🎉 Last week, Buena hosted a fantastic Open House where parents and students had the opportunity to tour the campus, meet teachers, and learn more about their classes. 🏫 Buena and JCMS also kicked off fall sports tryouts, welcoming new teams for Cross Country and Girls Volleyball (JCMS), and Swim, Girls Volleyball, Boys and Girls Golf, and Girls Flag Football at Buena. 🏅 Here's to a great season ahead! PDS and Town and Country PTOs held their first fundraisers of the year at Peter Piper Pizza, bringing families together for fun and community-building. 🍕❤️ Don’t miss out on this week’s events at your school: Huachuca Mountain: Curriculum Night is tomorrow from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Pueblo Del Sol: Curriculum Night is also tomorrow for Kindergarten through 3rd grade, and on Thursday for 4th through 6th grade. Bella Vista: Join us for the Bella Vista Showcase and Meet the Principal Night on Thursday, the 22nd, from 5 PM to 6:30 PM. Village Meadows: PTO will be fundraising at Peter Piper Pizza on the 21st. Pick-up and Drop-off Safety Families who use the car lane should allow their students to exit the vehicle as soon as you pull into the lane. When you wait until you are at the very end of the car lane to let your student out, you are creating a traffic backup onto Buffalo Soldier Trail. Please do not drop your student off in the middle of the staff parking lot! Please do not stand or encourage your child to cross in the red box zone. Vehicles are turning in this area. By encouraging your child to walk across, stand or run in this area you are placing them in difficult situation. Thank you for your cooperation!

Our IT department, and the proper providers, are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. As soon as service is restored we will send you an update. Dear SVUSD Families, We wanted to update you about several new initiatives and changes in our transportation department. As we work to improve our services, we are experiencing some growing pains with these new features, and we appreciate your understanding and patience. Student Tracking: We are excited to announce a new student tracking system that logs students on and off the bus using their new RFID student IDs. This system will allow you to track your child's bus and receive notifications if there are any issues. Currently, we are in the initial phase of this rollout and will provide updated information as the system becomes fully operational. IDs will be assigned at the school sites in the coming days, so please remind your student of the importance of keeping their ID safe and not losing it. New Routes: We have heard your concerns regarding the Palominas-BHS routes. Due to budget constraints and other factors, Palominas could not provide routes for high school students this year. As a solution, SVUSD has agreed to partially fund these routes. We prioritized student transportation to relieve the burden on parents. Please note that we do not receive State funding for these routes. Routing Software: We recently implemented new routing software, which inadvertently assigned too many students to certain routes. We are actively working to fix these issues and assure you they will be resolved promptly. Drivers have been instructed not to operate a route if the bus is over capacity. In such cases, an overflow bus will be dispatched to pick up additional students, which may cause delays. We are reviewing and adjusting routes, so your student may have a new route in the future. Transportation Changes: To streamline communication, please note that any transportation changes made at your student's school after 12 PM will not be effective until the second business day. We are committed to providing safe and efficient transportation for all students and thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this transition period. Earlier today, due to adverse weather conditions and the presence of lightning in a 10-mile area, we implemented a delayed dismissal procedure at all of our elementary. The safety of our students is of paramount importance, and we took these precautions to ensure their well-being. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these weather-related delays. Your child's safety is our top priority, and we are committed to making informed decisions that ensure their well-being. Thank you for your consideration and support.

Huachuca Mountain is truly a special place for kids. Our teaching staff is incredibly caring and professional; their knowledge of building student learning is second to none. Our office staff has been a part of your lives for many years, and remarkably, remembers the name of nearly everyone who walks through our front door. From the cafeteria to the grounds, the adults who come to work every day truly care for your children. Public education is truly my vocation, and I am proud to lead a staff who serves with the same spirit. In 2024-2025, Huachuca Mountain is excited to bring the STEAM training received last year to life for students. As a school community, my goal is to develop our use of cooperative, hands-on learning for students. Huachuca Mountain is also focused on developing writing skills for students, and we can’t wait to see the ideas our students put onto paper. We are truly “public school proud” at Huachuca Mountain, and believe our history of success sets us apart from any other school in our county. Teacher postings will be made soon, as we are continuing to make adjustments to grade levels based on enrollment and staffing needs.
