We are writing to inform you about an incident that occurred this morning during our morning drop-off routine, involving a delivery truck in the parking lot.
This morning, there was a close call involving a student who was walking in the parking lot and a delivery truck. Thanks to the quick action of one of our staff members, the student was safely guided out of harm's way as the truck was backing up. We want to express our deepest gratitude to our vigilant staff for their swift response and dedication to ensuring the safety of our students.
It's important to note that the delivery truck involved in this incident is not employed with either SVUSD or SFE, our food service provider. Following the incident, our administration promptly contacted the trucking company responsible, and as a result, the driver involved will no longer be permitted to make deliveries to any SVUSD school.
We take the safety of our students and staff very seriously, and incidents like these serve as reminders of the importance of remaining vigilant, especially during busy times such as drop-off and pick-up. We encourage everyone to remain aware of their surroundings and to prioritize safety at all times.
Please rest assured that we are taking all necessary steps to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future, including reviewing our procedures and reinforcing safety protocols.

After a warm welcome from our Assistant Principal Skarhus, the JCMS Student Council led them on an awesome campus tour. 🔬✨Tuesday was a day brimming with scientific exploration at SVUSD! 🌟 The morning kicked off with an exhilarating live stream to NASA for Carmichael students. 🚀 Selected Bears had the incredible opportunity to engage with Arizona native Chris Birch via Zoom, asking burning questions and delving into the wonders of space. 🌌 Meanwhile, over at Huachuca Mountain, second-grade classes embarked on an adventure to the UofA South observatory, diving deep into the mysteries of the stars and planets. 🌟 But the learning didn't stop there!
