Mrs. Lowe (our art paraprofessional) embraced the spirit of Dr. Seuss during Read Across America Week, spending the morning with an enthusiastic group of kindergarteners at Town and Country. Our sixth-grade students at Town and Country recently took on the challenge of building roller coasters to explore kinetic and potential energy in action. They started by constructing tracks using materials like cardboard, foam tubing, or paper, ensuring their designs included hills, loops, and turns. At the highest points, the roller coaster cars (often marbles or small balls) had maximum potential energy. As they rolled down, that energy transformed into kinetic energy, making them speed up. Students observed how energy changed throughout the ride, noticing factors like friction and gravity affecting motion. Mr. Malik at Town and Country greeted our students today by playing guitar and singing Irish songs, specifically "In Dublin's Fair City" and "Leave Her Johnny," to serenade the hallways. Ah, pesky leprechauns! Always sneaking around, causing mischief, and stealing all the gold. They're tricky little creatures known for hiding treasure and playing pranks. ⚡️🏛️Percy Jackson has taken over Town & Country! 🎲 Sixth-grade students designed Percy Jackson-themed board games before spring break to explore key elements of the book, including setting, plot, theme, and character traits. Players navigated through mythological challenges based on Camp Half-Blood, Olympus, and the Underworld, encountering obstacles that mirrored the novel’s heroic journey. The games featured quests and battles inspired by Percy’s adventures, requiring players to use strategy and Greek mythology knowledge. Themes like friendship, bravery, and destiny were woven into the gameplay, while characters like Percy, Annabeth, and Grover had unique abilities reflecting their strengths. This creative project brought Rick Riordan’s world to life in a fun and interactive way! 🌟 Teacher Feature: Mrs. Jurik – A Kindergarten Legend! 🌟 For 18 years, Mrs. Jurik has been a guiding light in the kindergarten classrooms of Village Meadows—helping little learners take their first big leap into education! 🏫✨ To her, kindergarten is a world of discovery, and she loves watching her students grow from playful preschoolers into confident first graders. Her classroom, affectionately called the Puppy Pack, is a warm and nurturing space where every child feels valued and supported—a perfect fit within the Wolf Pack family. 🐾💙 Mrs. Jurik embraces hands-on learning and small-group centers, always looking for new ways to spark curiosity and excitement in her students. She credits much of her success to her incredible paraprofessional, Mrs. Urbina, who works closely alongside her. 📝🎨📚 Outside the classroom, she’s a devoted grandmother, spending time at the Reid Park Zoo and Children’s Museum with her granddaughter. She enjoys knitting, reading, traveling, and family time—and this year, she’s preparing for an exciting new adventure: retirement! 🎉✈️ Principal Mrs. Wambach describes her perfectly: "Mrs. Jurik is more than a teacher—she’s an icon, a leader, and a transformative force in the lives of young minds.
