Our kindergarten students are bringing science to life! 🐰

During explore time, students had the opportunity to observe and gently hold bunnies as they deepened their understanding of real, living animals. Through hands-on experiences, they practiced curiosity, care, and observation while connecting classroom learning to the real world.

Authentic learning moments like these help our youngest learners build wonder, responsibility, and a love for science!

4th grade was in full β€œChocolate Chaos” mode! 🍫🧠
Students worked through an engaging escape room connected to their learning, solving challenges and collaborating to repair the β€œjammed chocolate factory.”

With built-in student roles like Quality Inspector, Code Breaker, Clue Finder, and Recorder, every learner had a purpose and a voice. The result? Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and lots of critical thinking in action.

Hands-on learning + collaboration = engaged students and meaningful learning experiences!

πŸŽͺ Collaboration in Motion at Town & Country! πŸŽͺ

Our staff dove into Classrooms in Motion – Chapter Five this week, focusing on strengthening Collaboration Stations to support meaningful student discourse and teamwork. Together, we explored how intentional structures and clear expectations empower students to engage, problem-solve, and learn from one another.

We also completed our monthly KAGAN structure β€” Carousel Feedback β€” and it couldn’t have been a more perfect fit for our circus theme! 🎟️ Staff rotated, reflected, and shared ideas to enhance collaborative learning experiences across classrooms.

At Town & Country, professional learning is hands-on, student-centered, and always connected to impact. When adults collaborate with purpose, students thrive. β€οΈπŸ–€

Students stepped into the role of engineers as they used the Engineering Design Process to choose the best site for a structure!

By testing different soil types and discussing why engineers study the ground before building, students made predictions, explored ideas, and thought like real problem-solvers.

4th grade students are engaged in centers that promote collaboration, problem-solving, and deeper thinking!

Using the Kagan strategy Fan-N-Pick, students worked together to solve fraction problems, explain their thinking, and learn from one another. These structured collaboration opportunities help build confidence, strengthen math skills, and ensure every student has a voice in the learning process.

We love seeing our Roadrunners actively engaged, supporting one another, and growing as mathematicians each day! ❀️

✨ Student Voices Making an Impact! ✨

During a recent visit to Sierra Vista, Governor Katie Hobbs had the opportunity to meet with the Cochise County Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council β€” a dynamic group of student leaders representing schools across the county.

We are especially proud that SIX SVUSD students serve on this council:
🍎 Trevor F. from Town & Country Elementary
πŸ“˜ Sadie M. from JCMS
πŸŽ“ Mirabella C., Greta S., Jason Y., and Veronica J. from Buena

A special congratulations to Veronica J., who serves as the Council’s President, and Jason Y., who serves as Vice President! πŸ‘

Students shared what it’s like to attend school in Cochise County and discussed their ideas and vision for the future with Governor Hobbs. Their thoughtful insights, leadership, and commitment to improving their schools and communities truly represent the best of SVUSD.

We are incredibly proud of these students for stepping up, speaking out, and helping shape the future. πŸ’™

Our readers and writers were hard at work demonstrating their understanding through visual analysis projects! πŸ“šβœ¨

Students chose a graphic to show their understanding of a chapter and used colors, illustrations, and annotations to represent mood, themes, ideas, and plot elements from the text. They supported their thinking with strong textual evidence and shared how their visuals connected to the story.

We loved seeing students think deeply, make meaning, and bring literature to life through creativity and analysis. Incredible work by our learners! πŸ’¬πŸŽ¨

First graders at Town & Country recently had the chance to work with partners to conduct a science experiment on friction. Students were asked the following question: What materials create the most heat when exposed to friction? Many materials were laid out for the partners to look at and make their predictions. Then they got to test their theories by rubbing the materials and judging the amount of heat created.
