πβ¨ Guest Reader Spotlight!
Students recently had the chance to use their PBIS points to purchase a special experienceβbecoming a Guest Reader!
This time, Ms. Elson shared Smart Cookie with our second graders. In this heartwarming story, a little cookie feels unsure of her smarts while surrounded by clever cupcakes and brilliant rolls. But with a sprinkle of confidence and a dash of creativity, she learns that being smart isnβt just about perfect scoresβitβs about believing in yourself. π‘πͺ
Way to go, Ms. Elson, and great job to all our Roadrunners making the most of their PBIS points! π #PBISinAction #RoadrunnerReaders #SmartCookie #SVUSDShines #EmpoweringYou #SVUSDProudARatedDistrict

Thanks to the leadership of Mrs. Romo, our Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, and the support of the competitive Hobbs Grant, music is coming alive in our elementary schools!

π Earth Day Birdhouses: A Creative STEAM Project with 2nd and 4th Graders! π¦π
In honor of Earth Day, our 2nd and 4th-grade students teamed up for a fun and environmentally-conscious STEAM project: creating birdhouses from recycled milk cartons! π±β¨
Students took milk cartons from the cafeteria that would have been thrown away and transformed them into beautiful, functional homes for our feathered friends. They also got creative by using leftover art supplies and other materials, turning what might have been waste into something wonderful!
This hands-on project not only allowed students to flex their artistic muscles, but also helped them understand the importance of recycling and sustainability. They learned that even the smallest materials can have a big impact on the planet!
And to top off their Earth Day celebration, they enjoyed a fun treat: "dirt" cups with Oreos and gummy worms! πͺπͺ± A sweet ending to a day full of creativity and learning!
A huge shoutout to all the students for their hard work, creativity, and dedication to making the Earth a little greener. ππ

πΎβ¨ Future Coyotes in the House! β¨πΎ
Last week, JCMS was thrilled to welcome all SVUSD 6th graders to campus for an exciting preview of middle school life! π
Our visiting students were greeted with a warm welcome from the JCMS Band and Student Council, followed by an introduction from Assistant Principal Pizutto and Principal Wright. They got a sneak peek at all the fun, learning opportunities, sports, and activities that await them next year! πΆππ
Student Council led small group tours across campus, giving 6th graders a chance to ask questions, learn the layout, and hear straight from current students about what to expect. It was a great day for peer-to-peer connectionβbecause sometimes itβs easier to ask someone who's been there! π
Weβre excited to have them join the pack soonβbecause thereβs a lot of fun and learning ahead at JCMS! ππΊ

π Staff Highlight for April: Mrs. Gracious Davenport π Meet Mrs. Davenport, our incredible 7th & 8th grade science teacher at JCMS! This is her first year as a Coyote and her eighth year in education, but sheβs already made a lasting impact. π Gracious Grace Davenport lives up to her nameβsheβs passionate, warm-hearted, and full of laughter. Her belief in the potential of every student drives her mission to build a safe, supportive, and inspiring classroom. π¬β¨ Originally from Florida, Mrs. Davenport moved to Sierra Vista with her husband, mom, and kids after her brother was stationed here with the Border Patrol. Her husbandβwho she met working at a middle schoolβis now one of our amazing custodians! Together, theyβre raising three little ones (ages 6, 5, and 1) and loving life in the SV community. π‘π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Before becoming a teacher, Mrs. Davenport worked in daycare and was active in church youth programs. One special moment with a teen in her youth group encouraged her to pursue middle school educationβand weβre so glad she did! From stepping in as support for a sub while still waiting for her AZ certification to creating fun traditions like Student of the Week (complete with favorite snacks!), sheβs all heart. π« She says, βPeople make people, not money,β and we couldnβt agree more. Welcome to the Coyote family, Mrs. Davenportβyouβre making a difference every day! πΎπ #JCMSCoyotes #StaffHighlight #ThankATeacher #ScienceMatters #CoyotePride #StaffHighlight
