Dear T&C Families,
As we head into the 2025-2026 school year, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible dedication of our teachers and staff. This year has brought both challenges and successes, and I’m proud to say we’ve grown stronger together — all in service of helping every student learn and thrive.
📚 Focus on Excellent Teaching
This year, our teachers focused on five key areas to improve instruction — things like setting clear goals for students, encouraging teamwork, checking for understanding, and recognizing effort. Because of their hard work, our instructional practices have improved dramatically.
We started the year with a 56% implementation rate in these areas and set a goal of reaching 75%. I’m thrilled to share that we exceeded that goal — ending the year with 87% implementation, showing tremendous growth across the board!
Here’s a quick snapshot of our progress:
Teaching Strategy | Last Year | This Year |
---|---|---|
Setting Objectives & Providing Feedback | 73% | 94% |
Structured Cooperative Learning | 24% | 71% |
Reinforcing Effort & Providing Recognition | 59% | 93% |
Checks for Understanding | 57% | 88% |
Gradual Release of Responsibility | 71% | 93% |
👣 Learning Walks Help Us Grow
Throughout the year, we conducted classroom “learning walks” — brief visits where we look at how strategies are being used across the school. Our teachers showed amazing growth, improving from 73% to 95% in the final walks. That kind of progress is a big reason our overall goal was not only met but surpassed.
🌟 A Positive and Supportive School Climate
We also made big strides in school culture. This year, we earned a 95% score on our PBIS implementation — the highest in our district’s history! PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) helps create safe, respectful learning environments, and this score shows just how committed our staff is to supporting every student.
Looking Ahead
As we plan for the 2025–2026 school year, we’re excited to build on this momentum. Our goals include:
Deepening our use of strong instructional strategies.
Using data and feedback to tailor our teaching.
Supporting one another through collaboration and coaching.
Continuing to strengthen our positive school culture through PBIS.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished this year — and even more excited for what’s ahead. Together, we’re building something truly special at Town and Country.
Thank you!
Stephanie Elson, M.Ed.
