Teachers and staff at Bella Vista follow District standards when planning instruction for our students. These standards are the guidelines for each subject area. Teachers use a variety of strategies to support every learning style.

Fundations: Multisensory, structured language program for K-2nd grade.

Fountas & Pinnell: Literacy Instruction for grades 2-6.

HMH Into Math: Math curriculum for K-12.

Wonders: Kinder to 5th grade English Language Arts curriculum.

StudySync: 6th to 12th grade English Language Arts curriculum.

Acadience Reading: Standardized Individually Administered measures of early literacy development.

Accelerated Reading (K-3): A curriculum-based assessment tool that provides a summary and analysis of results to enable teachers to monitor both the quantity and quality of reading practice engaged in by their students.

Star Reading: Standardized, computer, adaptive assessments that assist teachers in diagnosing student achievement in early reading skills. 

Title One: Title One provides additional support to students who are not meeting the standards. Title One is a program where students work in small groups with a reading specialist and highly qualified paraprofessionals.

Literacy Intervention: Literacy Intervention provides K-3rd grade students with small-group intensive instruction to meet grade-level literacy standards. These small groups are provided by highly trained paraprofessionals.

Parents Right to Know

Under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, parents have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of their child's teacher. Specifically, parents may request the following:

  • Whether a teacher has met the state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.

  • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state licensing criteria have been waived.

  • The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree.

  • Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
