Dear Staff,
We will resume our specials schedule with this week being a B week.
I am sorry this news was not shared last week, as requested, and that this decision will cause disruptions with this week's and future planning. The last minute decision last week to change specials was made by me in an effort to distribute SST and specials time fairly. 1st, 3rd, and 5th didnβt meet for SST or have specials due to A weeks before and after we returned from fall break.
We will examine our Wednesday schedule at our next staff meeting.

π Reminder: The Dust Devil PTO Fall Festival is almost here! π
On October 30th, weβre inviting you to our Fall Festival! π Join us from 4 PM to 6 PM for games, a cupcake walk, and so much more. Weβll have snacks and drinks too! ππΏ
ποΈ Get your tickets now for just $6 or grab them at the door for $7. Donβt miss out on the spooktacular Dust Devil PTO fun! π»

ππ Apple Unit Fun in Ms. French's Class! ππ
Our students just wrapped up a 2-week apple unit with Ms. French, diving into the life of an apple tree from season to season, learning how a tree begins to grow, and exploring apples using all five senses! ππΈπ
The grand finale? Making their own homemade applesauce! The kiddos cored, peeled, and mashed the apples, adding a touch of sugar and cinnamon before enjoying their delicious treat straight from the crockpot. As one student wisely noted, "Making applesauce is hard work." But the reward? So worth it! π

π Celebrating Our Commitment to Positive Behavior: Six SVUSD Schools Earn 2023-2024 AZPBIS Awards! π
We're thrilled to announce that Bella Vista Elementary, PDS Elementary, and Buena High School have earned the prestigious 2023-2024 AZPBIS 1 Award! π But the excitement doesn't stop thereβCarmichael Elementary and Huachuca Mountain Elementary have also been recognized with Level 3 awards, and Town and Country Elementary achieved an extraordinary Level 4 award π
These awards shine a light on the core values we instill in our students every day through the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. Itβs not just about recognitionβitβs about fostering a school culture where students are empowered to live by our values:
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
SVUSD PBIS Coordinator Nicole Parker shared, "These awards reflect the incredible commitment of our staff, families, and community in upholding these expectations each day. Together, we are building a positive, proactive, and supportive school environment where students can thrive both academically and socially." ππ
At SVUSD, we are proud to see our students embrace and embody these principlesβpreparing them to grow into successful leaders and compassionate citizens.
Letβs continue to celebrate this success and encourage our students to live out these values every day! π

π SVUSD Schools Supporting a Great Cause! π
All SVUSD schools are proudly participating in the Edward Jones Food Drive throughout October! Each classroom is collecting non-perishable food items, and the classroom with the most donations will win a pizza party sponsored by Edward Jones for each site. ππ
But the real winners are our local food pantries and community members who will benefit from your generosity. Our students are excited to make a difference, and this is a beautiful example of how we can come together as a community to support those in need. ππ«Ά
If you've already donated, THANK YOU for your kindness! π If you'd still like to contribute, donations are being accepted until the end of October. Every can and every box makes a big impact! π₯«β€οΈ #SVUSDGivesBack #CommunityStrong #EdwardJonesFoodDrive #EmpoweringYou

π¨ October is Anti-Bullying Month! π¨
At SVUSD, we are proud to say we have no tolerance for bullying in our schools. We are fully committed to educating our students on the importance of kindness and respect, ensuring a safe, supportive environment for everyone.
π This year, we've implemented the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program across our district to further educate and empower our students. The program equips students and staff with tools and language to prevent bullying by fostering stronger, more positive peer relationships.
π In honor of Unity Day on Wednesday, October 16th, we invite all students to wear orange to show their support for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Together, we can stand up to bullying and continue to make SVUSD schools a positive place for all! π§‘πͺ #AntiBullyingMonth
