πΎ Pueblo Del Sol Gives Back!
The Pueblo Del Sol Student Council recently organized a Pet Supply Drive to support the amazing work of the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center. Thanks to the generosity of our students and families, a wide variety of much-needed items were donated β making the drive a huge success!
As a fun incentive, the class that brought in the most supplies earned a well-deserved popcorn and movie day π¬πΏ
Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make a difference for animals in our community!

Students and staff at Pueblo Del Sol had an absolute blast during Spirit Week! π From wacky outfits to school pride galore, each day was packed with creativity, laughter, and tons of fun. For Arizonaβs birthday celebration, our PDS kindergarten students became junior researchers as they explored the amazing animals that call our state home. Each student selected an Arizona animal to research. Some chose the desert-dwelling Gila monster, learning that it is one of the only venomous lizards in the world. Others were fascinated by the clever Coyote, known for its howls and adaptability. Others chose the venomous Rattlesnake and the not so sweet smelling Javelinaβs.
Using books, pictures, and teacher-guided research, students learned about each animalβs habitat, diet, and special characteristics. To celebrate Arizonaβs birthday, students presented their research with beautiful Arizona sunset pictures that were created with watercolors and their own unique desert background. Our kindergarten researchers showed that even the youngest learners can explore, discover, and celebrate the wonders of Arizona! π΅

Please make note of the upcoming school closure for next week.
We hope our students and families enjoy the long weekend! School will resume on Tuesday, 02/17/2026.
Thank you and have a safe, restful holiday!β€οΈπ€π

Our 6th graders wrapped up their Energy Unit with an action packed Energy Day, and it was a blast!
Students rotated through STEM stations testing Thermal Energy with ice melting contest.
Force and Motion with balloon cars where finalists competed and winners earned gold medals--the excitemnt was real.
We explored potential and kinetic energy using rubber band sling shots to knock over cans, and tested chemical energy and it's transfer into motion by launching bottle rockets with baking soda and vinegar.
A huge thank you to SSVEC for bringing out their bucket truck and teaching students how to safe around electricity. WaterWise was here today too teaching us about water energy and how this important resource is being impacted--even right here in Sierra Vista.
We are so grateful for our parent volunteers who manned our stations , Cochise County Sheriff's Department and Deputy Felix, who helped students finish answering questions on their recording forms.
None of this would have been possible without the support of our amazing community parentees and volunteers. Thank you for showing our students what learning looks like the dustdevil way!

We are excited to invite you to Talk with Terri, a special community listening event with Superintendent Terri Romo.
Thursday, January 29
5:00β6:00 PM
Rothery Education Conference Room
This event is not a presentation or formal meetingβit is a listening tour designed specifically for Superintendent Romo to hear directly from our families. This is an opportunity for parents and guardians to share their questions, concerns, experiences, and ideas as we work together to support students and strengthen our schools.
Superintendent Romoβs priority is to listen, learn, and better understand what matters most to you. Your voice is important, and your feedback will help inform the future of Sierra Vista Unified School District.
Everyone is welcome, and we encourage all families to attend and take part in this open, welcoming conversation about our schools, our community, and our future.
We hope you will join us for this important opportunity to be heard.

We are happy to share that power has been restored at PDS, and the school day will continue as normal.
Due to the earlier power outage, todayβs lunch will consist of cereal and milk as our cafeteria works to safely resume operations. Parents are welcome to bring a lunch for their student if they prefer.
Please note:
Kindergarten students were able to eat lunch as scheduled.
Lunch originally prepared for 5th and 6th grade students cannot be served, as it is no longer within the required safe temperature range.
Some grade levels may experience a delayed lunch time as we work through these adjustments.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize student safety and well-being. We appreciate your continued support.
Sincerely,
Sincerely,
Principal McDaniel
