Good Morning PDS Families,

We would like to provide an update regarding the ongoing power outages at PDS.

SSVEC has shared that the current estimated time for power restoration is 1:30 PM today. We are scheduled to receive another update from SSVEC at 11:30 AM to determine whether power may be restored sooner.

At this time, enough food was prepared to serve A and B lunches, which includes Kindergarten and 6th grade students. If power is not restored, we will not be able to provide lunch for the remaining grade levels.

At 11:30 AM, a determination will be made regarding whether students will be dismissed early for the day. Parents are welcome to come to campus to pick up their students at any time.

As a reminder, PDS currently does not have phone or internet service, so the school is unable to respond to calls or emails at this time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding and will continue to share updates as soon as they become available.

Sincerely,
Principal McDaniel

Kindergarten has had an action packed first week back after our winter break!Β  There has been lots of excitement and learning happening with the introduction of our new ELA centers.Β  We have upgraded from matching capital and lowercase letters and beginning sound centers and replaced it with beanbag "sight" word toss, hide and seek cvc word/picture matching and wipe on wipe off cvc word blending. Writing on our special cabinet paper has been like a magic trick and who doesn't like tossing a beanbag.Β  Best part is all the learning that is happening and the excitement that is heard when they get it correct.Β  Who says learning can't be fun?

On Tuesday, December 18th, Pueblo Del Sol Student Council hosted their first annual Holiday Art Gala. Student Council provided canvases for each student, and under the direction of our art teacher, Ms. Rosado, students created art pieces inspired by some of the great masters. Families enjoyed the opportunity to purchase artwork, create crafts, and decorate cookies alongside their students. The evening was filled with creativity, joy, and celebration, and it was truly inspiring to see the excitement families shared over their students’ artwork. We look forward to hosting more family engagement nights in the coming new year.

SGT. Louden brought some of Buena’s finest JROTC leaders to Pueblo Del Sol’s Student Council meeting, where they shared their roles and experiences in ROTC. One message that truly stood out was the importance of empathy when working with others. During the meeting, PDS StuCo and ROTC discussed how they will collaborate on an upcoming project for the school, and StuCo was enthusiastic about working with them. Having older students work alongside our younger students teaches the power of collaboration and shows what true leadership is all about. To end the meeting on a fun note, ROTC challenged StuCo to a friendly push-up contest, bringing lots of laughter and excitement to the room.

Good Afternoon Families,

I wanted to share a quick update with you. After lunch today, while staff were cleaning the cafeteria, a small electrical issue was observed when a socket began to smoke. As a precaution, the fire department was called to assess the situation.

At the time, no students were in the cafeteria, and there is no danger to students or staff. The issue has been addressed, and everything is safe.

All activities, including the Reindeer Run, will continue as scheduled today.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Thank you,

πŸŽ„πŸš“ Deputy Jason Brings Holiday Cheer to 6th Grade! πŸš“πŸŽ„

Deputy Jason from the Cochise County Sheriff's Department joined our 6th grade Dust Devils for some festive fun! He dove right into the Christmas Rate and Roll activity, helping students practice ratio, rates, and unit rates in a lively, hands-on way.

His enthusiasm turned math review into a game, and the students loved every minute of it! πŸŽ‰ We’re so thankful for his energy and support in making learning fun this holiday season. #CommunityPartnership #LearningIsFun

This weekend, Pueblo Del Sol’s Student Council teamed up with Huachuca Mountain’s Student Council to volunteer at two meaningful community events. Their first stop was with the Kiwanis Club, where they helped wrap gifts for the Stocking Stuffer Program knowing these presents would bring joy to local families during the holiday season. Later, they headed to Santa on the West End, where they helped with decorating cookies, handing out gifts, and helping with games to make the afternoon magical for children. It was a heartwarming day filled with service, compassion, and community spirit.

Our 6th graders at PDS teamed up with their 2nd grade buddies for a fun game of spelling charades! The 6th graders supported their buddies by giving clues, guiding sentence writing, and practicing spelling together.

✨ The results? 100% of our 2nd graders earned a perfect score on this week’s spelling test!

We are so proud of both our leaders and our learnersβ€”way to go, PDS! πŸŽ‰πŸ“–
