Back to School

Dear Sierra Vista Unified School District Families and Parents,

As we approach the start of another academic year, I am delighted to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome back to each and every one of you. It is with immense pride and excitement that I begin my fourth year as the superintendent of this exceptional school district. Together, we have accomplished so much, and I am confident that this year holds even greater promise for our community.

At the Sierra Vista Unified School District, we are committed to providing the best possible educational opportunities for our students. This year, we are introducing an innovative and dynamic new science curriculum that will engage our students in meaningful ways, foster critical thinking, and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities of the future. Our dedicated team of teachers and administrators have worked tirelessly last year to implement two other new curriculum programs, Math and ELA. Both of these programs are rigorous and relevant, with a focus on developing well-rounded individuals equipped to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

We take great pride in our commitment to improving student achievement and ensuring that every student reaches their full potential. Our mission is to empower each and every student to be the best they can be, and we are dedicated to providing a supportive and nurturing learning environment that fosters growth and success. We firmly believe that every student possesses unique talents and strengths, and it is our responsibility to nurture and develop these qualities to help them excel. We were very proud of our state designations for the 2022-2023 school year. Four of our schools earned an A grade, two schools earned a B grade and two schools earned a C grade.  This was a significant improvement over the prior year.

But we also recognize that we cannot achieve our goals alone. Family involvement is a crucial component of a student's success, and we value the partnership between home and school. As we embark on this new academic year, we strongly encourage and welcome families to get involved in their child's education. Your support, encouragement, and engagement play a vital role in helping our students flourish academically and socially. Together, we can create a powerful support system that empowers our students to achieve their dreams.

As we look forward to the new year, I want to express my gratitude for the support that you, the families and parents, have shown to the Sierra Vista Unified School District. Your commitment to our community and your children's education is truly inspiring and serves as a driving force behind our ongoing success.

In conclusion, I am thrilled about the upcoming year, my 37th year in education, and the tremendous possibilities it holds for our students, families, and community. The Sierra Vista Unified School District is committed to continuous improvement and creating an environment where all students can thrive and excel. Together, let us embrace the opportunities that lie ahead and work hand in hand to build an even brighter future for our children.

With warm regards,

Eric Holmes, Ed. D.
