🚨 October is Anti-Bullying Month! 🚨 At SVUSD, we are proud to say we have no tolerance for bullying in our schools. We are fully committed to educating our students on the importance of kindness and respect, ensuring a safe, supportive environment for everyone. 🌟 This year, we've implemented the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program across our district to further educate and empower our students. The program equips students and staff with tools and language to prevent bullying by fostering stronger, more positive peer relationships. 💙 In honor of Unity Day on Wednesday, October 16th, we invite all students to wear orange to show their support for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Jayden Thomas made a significant contribution to the team's 56-0 victory at Pueblo on Friday night. He returned a punt for a touchdown of more than fifty yards and scored two receiving touchdowns totaling 110 yards.' Caroline always sets a good example for the JVA team with her energy and diligence, but many people noticed last week how much discipline she allowed herself to have in order to improve herself and her teammates.

Deztany- In the first flag football game in the Buenas school's history, Deztany scored three touchdowns to seal the victory. Later, Deztany added a rushing touchdown on a punt return after scoring the first-ever touchdown on a kickoff return. Deztany was equally as effective when it came to playing defense. She was blocking passes when she was moved to the rushing quarterback, whereupon she repeatedly sacked the player, enabling Buena to secure the team's historic victory. Christian- With a low round of 40, Christian guided the golf team to win against Desert View last Tuesday. Additionally, he scored 66 points this past weekend in the Flowing Wells tournament, Christian used the Stableford scoring method, to lead the team in points. He led the team to eighth place out of sixteen teams, finishing 11th out of 91 golfers.

At SVUSD, there’s always something exciting happening, and we couldn't be prouder! 🐾 Last week, we were bursting with pride for Adaleyna L., who helped out in not one, but TWO medical emergencies at JCMS! Way to go, Analigh! 💪💙 Huge shoutout to our amazing Carmichael PTO team, who come out almost weekly to make popcorn for your Bears. A big thanks to Brooke and Aaron Erwin, and Cody Lapre—you three are incredible! 🍿❤️ Want to join them and make a difference? Contact the Carmichael office to get involved; it's totally worth it! Bella Vista had a blast celebrating their PBIS kick-off last week, reviewing rules, expectations, and the awesome rewards Bobcats can earn. They’re all hyped to be safe, respectful, and responsible as they rack up points for prizes! 🎉👏 Huachuca Mountain celebrates! 🎉 We're thrilled to welcome our new 5th & 6th grade Student Council leaders – the leaders of tomorrow! 👏 On Friday, we had a fantastic home game for our Colts, kicked off with an all-band pregame show. Bands from Buena, JCMS, Palominas, and Ft. Huachuca put on an incredible performance! 🎶🏈 As for this week, here’s what’s in store: 📚 PDS is hosting a book fair, spirit week, and their Title I Night on Wednesday evening from 4 PM to 5 PM, with the book fair open for parents. 🌍 Town & Country is having their "Read Around the World" Title I Night on Wednesday evening from 4 PM to 5 PM. ➗ Bella Vista is inviting families to their Math Night on Thursday—where math becomes even more fun! 🏅 Village Meadows will honor their Students of the Month and PBIS champions on Friday. 🎭 Don’t miss out on Heist Quest, a production by the Buena Theatre Arts, with opening night on Friday at 7 PM and a second show on Saturday at 7 PM. It’s sure to be a masterpiece! Finally, we wish all of our sports teams—whether traveling or playing at home—the best of luck! We’re proud of you! 💙🎉

Here’s a quick look at what’s been happening: 📚 Book Fairs at Huachuca Mountain and Village Meadows were a huge success, with parents and students thrilled about new reads, and teachers excited to add fresh books to their classrooms! At Village Meadows, parents also had the opportunity to learn about our Title I programs—ensuring no student is left behind in their learning adventure. At SVUSD, we’re dedicated to empowering everyone to achieve excellence together! 💡✨ 🎉 At PDS, we celebrated our PBIS top point earners from each classroom—just look at those happy smiles! 😊👏 🍕 Meanwhile, Carmichael students in Mrs. Clark’s class got hands-on with STEAM, creating solar ovens. Buena Culinary is Prepping for Oktoberfest

SVUSD Weekly Highlights 🏫✨ We've had another action-packed week across all campuses! Check out some of the amazing things happening: 🎉 Village Meadows celebrated students who excelled on Arizona's Academic Standards Assessment (AASA) testing with a refreshing trip to The Cove! Plus, students across campus flashed their best smiles for Picture Day 📸. 📚 At Bella Vista, students dived into new math concepts while learning in their busy classrooms. Meanwhile, back at Village Meadows, our amazing "Mom Elves," Ms. Shepart and Ms. Kattke, prepared PBIS prizes for delivery 🎁. Students had filled out order forms, exchanging their hard-earned PBIS points for prizes—this time, the most popular reward was a coupon to read a book to their class! 📖 🐻At Carmichael the Buena SLAC (Student Leadership Athletic Committee) visited for the first time, and everyone had an amazing time! Our Bears loved having their mentors on campus. The SLAC students tutored, guided, and even helped with shopping at the PBIS store. A huge thank you to Buena SLAG for supporting and inspiring our Bears! 🎉 ✂️ JCMS hosted its first-ever 6th-grade PBIS Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament on Friday! Students had a blast while playing safely, respectfully, and responsibly. The finals were live-streamed to classrooms so everyone could cheer on their peers! 🏆 🎶 At Buena High, students stormed the halls for the first time this year, rallying behind the band, cheerleaders, and football team! 🎺🏈 🗓️ Coming up this week: Elementary Parent-Teacher Conferences are happening on Thursday and Friday, with early release for students at 11:15 AM. If you haven’t scheduled an appointment yet, don’t worry—just contact your school! Picture Days will take place at PDS, Town and Country, and Carmichael. Village Meadows will also host a Title I Program Information Session during conferences on Thursday. And don’t forget, both Village Meadows and Huachuca Mountain will have their PTO Book Fairs open during conference hours. 📚 Pick up a book and enjoy some cozy reading time with your child! ⚽ Our JCMS and Buena athletes are staying busy: JCMS Volleyball has both home and away games, and Cross Country heads to Nogales for a meet. Buena Football takes on Catalina Foothill in Tucson, while Girls Volleyball plays two home games (today and Wednesday). Buena’s Golf, Swim, Cross Country, and Mountain Biking teams are also in full swing. Buena Flag Football will have its first scrimmage at Desert View High School.
