
This morning, Buena staff had to call 911 for a staff experiencing a medical emergency. EMS and police are at Buena. At this time all students are being kept in classrooms so that EMS can assist with the medical emergency and have clear access through hallways. There was no threat or danger to Buena.


Gabriel Cummis was selected as this week's Male Athlete of the Week! At the track meet on Friday, Gabe got his personal record in the mile! Gabe's mile time was 4:21.24 earning him fourth place against a lot of other competitors. Gabe is a very hard working athlete who also does varsity cross country. He is a leader and resembles all the attributes of a great athlete. Congrats Gabe, good luck on the rest of your senior season!
Abby Roark was selected as the Female Athlete of the Week for placing 5th in the most recent meet at Queen Creek High School, running a time of 12:50.32 in the 3200 meters against a very competitive field. She is currently ranked #5 in division 2 and #49 in all of Arizona this year. Good luck to Abby and the rest of the track team as they visit Catalina Foothills and Ironwood Ridge later this week.

This week's athlete of the week is Branden Brown! Branden played very well in the Cowboy Up tournament. He played four different positions and shined in all of them. His coach says he's a leader on the field and is always positive in the dugout. He is 7th in the state for on base percentage! Branden is a very hardworking and talented athlete that always keeps the team's spirits up with his jokes. Congrats Branden to a great start to the season, keep it up!
Ariella Antemann has rightfully earned the title of this week's Female Athlete of the Week. Her performance in this week's softball tournament has been nothing short of remarkable. Leading the team across multiple statistical categories, she has showcased unparalleled skill and determination on the field. With an impressive batting average of 0.692, an on-base percentage of 0.733, and a slugging percentage of 0.846, Ariella has consistently delivered stellar performances at the plate. Moreover, she leads the team in stolen bases, runs scored, and hits. Ariella's exceptional contributions during this tournament underscore her dedication, leadership, and undeniable talent. Please be assured that there is no threat to Buena High School, our students, or staff. These drills are part of training exercises conducted by Cochise College for their law enforcement program, and they are being conducted with the utmost safety precautions in place.
We understand that hearing gunfire, even simulated, can be concerning. However, we want to reassure you that these drills are being conducted in a controlled environment and are essential for preparing future law enforcement professionals.
