Congratulations to our three honorees! π₯³
Mr. Dunlap, our 8th grade Social Studies teacher, was awarded a Golden Apple for being an amazing educator and for the impact he makes in the classroom every day.
We also have two incredible All-Stars! Only one student from each grade level is selected from across Cochise County to represent their school. This year, both the 7th and 8th grade All-Stars attend JCMS!π
We are so proud of Brexen (7th grade) and Brilynn (8th grade) for representing what it means to be truly well-rounded scholars. π Their hard work, character, and dedication make our school proud!

Itβs time for our Aluminum Can Challenge for the entire month of March!
We are collecting empty aluminum cans to support the Nancy Brua Animal Shelter. The 1st period class that collects the MOST cans will win a SODA PARTY!
Bring your empty cans to your 1st period class and help your class take the lead. Student Council will stop by classrooms every Thursday to collect and count cans.
Letβs recycle, compete, and help our local animal shelter at the same time!

Dear JCMS Families,
We are preparing to begin our end-of-year benchmark assessments in the areas of Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies. These assessments are an important opportunity for students to demonstrate the growth theyβve made this year, and we need your support to help them be successful.
Please help us by ensuring your student:
β’ Charges their Chromebook every night
β’ Brings their charged Chromebook to school each day of testing
β’ Gets a good nightβs rest
β’ Brings a water bottle and a pencil
β’ Brings a book to read in case they finish early
We offer breakfast at JCMS each morning, but a hearty breakfast at home works just as well! We are proud of the hard work our students have put in this year and encourage them to do their very best. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

JCMS kicked off our new Thirsty Thursday Trolley this week and it was a hit!
A huge thank you to our incredible PTSO for providing beverages and to our admin team for supplying snacks for our hardworking educators. This small token of appreciation brought big smiles to our teachers and staff.
We hope to continue this tradition weekly or biweekly (as long as supplies last!). It may seem like a small gesture, but our teachers were truly grateful. They give so much of themselves every single day to educate and support our students and this is just one way we can show our appreciation.
If you would like to help us keep this tradition going, donations are always welcome. Together, we can continue to uplift the amazing staff who serve our JCMS students daily.
Thank you for supporting our school community! π

β¨ Student Voices Making an Impact! β¨
During a recent visit to Sierra Vista, Governor Katie Hobbs had the opportunity to meet with the Cochise County Superintendentβs Student Advisory Council β a dynamic group of student leaders representing schools across the county.
We are especially proud that SIX SVUSD students serve on this council:
π Trevor F. from Town & Country Elementary
π Sadie M. from JCMS
π Mirabella C., Greta S., Jason Y., and Veronica J. from Buena
A special congratulations to Veronica J., who serves as the Councilβs President, and Jason Y., who serves as Vice President! π
Students shared what itβs like to attend school in Cochise County and discussed their ideas and vision for the future with Governor Hobbs. Their thoughtful insights, leadership, and commitment to improving their schools and communities truly represent the best of SVUSD.
We are incredibly proud of these students for stepping up, speaking out, and helping shape the future. π

Gracious describes a person or behavior marked by kindness, warm courtesy, charm, and a generous spirit, and that perfectly captures Mrs. Gracious Davenport. She was recently recognized as Employee of the Month and honored at last weekβs Governing Board meeting for exemplifying respect through PBIS. We are incredibly proud to have her at JCMS. Mrs. Davenport is always willing to help, encourage others, and bring positivity to our campus each day. She is truly deserving of this recognition.

Dear Families,
We have officially reached the midpoint of third quarter, and we are very proud of our students and the growth they continue to make. Thank you for your ongoing support.
We do, however, need your assistance with a recurring concern: missing student IDs. Students are required to have their ID on their person at all times while on campus. Beginning Monday, February 9, student IDs must be worn on a lanyard around the neck. IDs may not be attached to backpacks, belt loops, or kept in wallets.
Having IDs worn and visible helps our school run smoothly and safely in many ways, including:
- Allowing substitutes to correctly match students to seating charts
- Preventing students from using another studentβs identity
- Providing quick PBIS rewards through easy scanning
- Speeding up lunch/bus lines
- Preventing misuse of accounts at the Snack Shack
Due to repeated issues, we are implementing the following procedures:
- IDs will be checked during morning announcements.
- Students without an ID will be sent to the front office.
- Students will call home to notify parents that an ID is needed.
- Students without an ID will not be permitted to ride the bus home.
- The first ID was provided free. Replacement IDs cost $5.
- IDs are required for Snack Shack purchases.
Please help remind your child each morning to bring and wear their ID on a lanyard. This small step makes a big difference in maintaining a safe, efficient, and positive school environment.
Thank you for your partnership and support.
Sincerely,
Principal Paz
