What a fun surprise today! 🎉 Principal Paz discovered that today's SSO (School Safety Officer) assigned to JCMS is actually her former high school classmate! It’s always a small world when paths cross again in such meaningful ways. Welcome to JCMS, Deputy Clark, we’re glad to have you on our team! 👮♂️💙

🥳Happy birthday to our Dean of Students, Mrs. H! 💜 Your dedication to our school community doesn’t go unnoticed. You guide our students with care and consistency, support our teachers, and help build systems that keep everyone safe and thriving. We’re so grateful for you and hope your day is filled with the same joy and positivity you bring to others! 💜✨

WE HAVE OUR FIRST SOCIAL COMING UP!!! Theme: LET'S GLOW CRAZY

💜💜💜 Spirit Week! 💜💜💜

The district previously sent an email reminder to families on August 21 regarding the ID requirement. Please ensure your child has their ID with them daily. All students were issued a school ID at the beginning of the year free of charge. If a student has lost their ID, a replacement must be purchased for $5 before they can ride the bus home. Please note, no student will never be left at a morning bus stop without a ride to school. Beginning Monday, September 15, students will not be permitted to ride the bus home without their school ID, and they will need to be picked up. Thanks for your support.

Hello coyote families. The PTSO has their next meeting on Monday, September 8 at 4:15 pm in the JCMS library. We hope to see you there!
Also, come support JCMS at our Chipotle Dine-out on Thursday, September 25 from 5-9 pm. (Note the new date). Be sure to mention you are buying in support of JCMS. Use the code MJVLMCK to order online.
Finally, we are in need of volunteers to help sell soda, pizza, etc. at the JCMS dance on Friday, September 26 from 4-5:30 pm. Email us at jcmscoyoteptso@gmail.com if you would like to help out.

You're invited to our first Title I curriculum night. This is a kickoff informational meeting regarding our Title I program and how it's utilized on our campus. We hope to see you at 4:30pm on Wednesday 9/3/25 💜

A big thank you to our Dean, Mrs. H, for taking the time to review rules, expectations, policies, and even relevant legislation with all of our students. From dress code to cell phone use, students can no longer say they don’t know the rules. She explained every detail, and the consequences, in a way that truly resonates with middle schoolers. Positive changes are happening at JCMS, and our new administration is working double time to stay present and engaged on campus.

Meet Mr. Dunlap, a new member of the JCMS team! An Air Force veteran, Mr. Dunlap chose teaching social studies as his second career, and we’re so glad he did! You’ll often see him in the mornings, during lunch, and after school, always ready to help in any way he can, even when he’s not scheduled for duty. Thank you, Mr. Dunlap, for dedicating so much of your time to our students. You are a positive male role model for our youth, and they especially love playing football with you!

Miss Macias joined our students in a game of soccer during lunch today! The students loved having her out on the field and were impressed by the athletic skills of their ELA teacher.

Shout out to SSVEC for visiting JCMS to educate our 8th-grade students about electricity! Our students loved the engaging, hands-on activities you provided. Our 7th graders are already excited and looking forward to your upcoming visit!

Dear JCMS Families,
Most of the power has been restored at Joyce Clark Middle School, and classes will continue as normal tomorrow. The only area still without power is the gym. Alternative arrangements will be made for gym classes until the issue is fully resolved.
Crews will continue working to restore power to the gym before tomorrow, and we will keep you updated if anything changes. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigated this situation.
Sincerely,
SVUSD Administration

Shout out to our amazing cafeteria crew!
After the power outage left our fridges empty and created so many unknowns this morning, even making us question if we could hold school, they jumped into action! With about 80 students on campus, they quickly and creatively pulled together breakfast to ensure our kids were fed and cared for. Thank you for your flexibility, teamwork, and dedication to our students.

Dear JCMS Families,
Joyce Clark Middle School is currently experiencing intermittent power outages. As a result, the school will operate on a 2-hour delay today, with classes beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Students who have already boarded their buses will be taken to JCMS. However, buses will not be completing the remainder of their morning routes, so families of students who have not yet been picked up will need to make alternate arrangements.
Repair crews are working on the issue, but if power is not fully restored, we may need to cancel school for the day. If that decision becomes necessary, we will notify families immediately.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this situation.

In summer 2025, JCMS was officially named a Purple Star School. This designation recognizes our strong commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families. Purple Star Schools provide resources and programs that help military children adjust to frequent moves and transitions, ensuring they thrive both academically and socially.
Today’s professional development focused on what it means to be a Purple Star School and how we can continue building a strong culture of support for our military-connected students.

Today at lunch, Joyce Clark Middle School staff had to call 911 for a student experiencing a medical emergency. EMS are at JCMS and the student’s parents have been notified. There was no threat or danger to JCMS. Thank you to our staff and EMS for their care and quick response.
