Gracious describes a person or behavior marked by kindness, warm courtesy, charm, and a generous spirit, and that perfectly captures Mrs. Gracious Davenport. She was recently recognized as Employee of the Month and honored at last week’s Governing Board meeting for exemplifying respect through PBIS. We are incredibly proud to have her at JCMS. Mrs. Davenport is always willing to help, encourage others, and bring positivity to our campus each day. She is truly deserving of this recognition.

Dear Families, We have officially reached the midpoint of third quarter, and we are very proud of our students and the growth they continue to make. Thank you for your ongoing support. We do, however, need your assistance with a recurring concern: missing student IDs. Students are required to have their ID on their person at all times while on campus. Beginning Monday, February 9, student IDs must be worn on a lanyard around the neck. IDs may not be attached to backpacks, belt loops, or kept in wallets. Having IDs worn and visible helps our school run smoothly and safely in many ways, including: - Allowing substitutes to correctly match students to seating charts - Preventing students from using another student’s identity - Providing quick PBIS rewards through easy scanning - Speeding up lunch/bus lines - Preventing misuse of accounts at the Snack Shack Due to repeated issues, we are implementing the following procedures: - IDs will be checked during morning announcements. - Students without an ID will be sent to the front office. - Students will call home to notify parents that an ID is needed. - Students without an ID will not be permitted to ride the bus home. - The first ID was provided free. Replacement IDs cost $5. - IDs are required for Snack Shack purchases. Please help remind your child each morning to bring and wear their ID on a lanyard. This small step makes a big difference in maintaining a safe, efficient, and positive school environment. Thank you for your partnership and support. Sincerely, Principal Paz

We are honored to share that one of our own has been selected to receive a PBIS award for being respectful. Mrs. Davenport will be presented with a certificate on Tuesday, February 3rd, at the SVUSD Governing Board Meeting. Not only is she respectful, but she is also one of the most caring individuals on our campus. She consistently reminds us to stay encouraged, no matter what challenges we face. She is a valuable member of our team and is greatly loved by our student population.

Dear Town & Country and JCMS Families,

Town & Country Elementary and JCMS are currently experiencing an outage affecting both our phone and internet systems. While these services are down, staff are still on site and school is continuing as normal.

If you need to reach the school during this time, please come directly to the front office. We will let families know as soon as service has been restored.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Dear SVUSD Families,

We are excited to invite you to Talk with Terri, a special community listening event with Superintendent Terri Romo.

Thursday, January 29
5:00–6:00 PM
Rothery Education Conference Room

This event is not a presentation or formal meetingβ€”it is a listening tour designed specifically for Superintendent Romo to hear directly from our families. This is an opportunity for parents and guardians to share their questions, concerns, experiences, and ideas as we work together to support students and strengthen our schools.

Superintendent Romo’s priority is to listen, learn, and better understand what matters most to you. Your voice is important, and your feedback will help inform the future of Sierra Vista Unified School District.

Everyone is welcome, and we encourage all families to attend and take part in this open, welcoming conversation about our schools, our community, and our future.

We hope you will join us for this important opportunity to be heard.

Today we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 🌈 He taught us to be kind, fair, and to stand up for what is right. Let’s remember his dream by using our words to help, our actions to care, and our hearts to include everyone. πŸ’™ We hope everyone enjoys their day off, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back at school tomorrow! 😊

MLK Day
SVUSD took a select group of educators to Oklahoma City for a three-day leadership experience. During this time, our team collaborated with professionals from across the country to explore best practices and effective methods for improving our schools. We drafted action plans, shared ideas, discussed common challenges, and identified potential solutions to bring back to our sites. We are excited to put this work into action and look forward to seeing these efforts come to fruition for our students, staff, and community.
