Arizona Expands Free Meal Program

The Arizona Department of Education has started a new program to offer meals free of charge to students who qualify for reduced-price meal benefits in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP), in Arizona.  This new program began January 1st and will continue through June 30, 2024.

For  families who have already completed the 2022-2023 Free and Reduced Meal Application and have been approved, there is no need for you to take any actions.  Your students began receiving meals free of charge on Wednesday, January 4th.

The 2022-2023 Free and Reduced Application is still available to complete for any families who feel they may be eligible. A family of 4 making $4,279 a month or less qualifies for the reduced benefit in the National School Lunch Program.  The application and a complete list of income requirements can be found on our website at https://www.svusd68.org/page/child-nutrition-and-food-services . These applications are valid until June 30,2023. For the 2023-2024 school year a new application will be published by the National School Lunch Program and families will have the opportunity to apply.
