π The Sierra Vista Fire Department and Fry Fire Department set up mini smokehouses, making fire safety fun and educational for our young learners. π₯
𧑠On October 18th, we all stood against bullying by wearing orange across our schools. Red Ribbon Week was a blast, with students dressing up and embracing themed spirit days. Carmichael and Town and Country had some furry friends visit, teaching students about animals and respect. ππΎ
π Mid-month, we all enjoyed a well-deserved fall break, recharging before diving into the second quarter. π
π Buena Fine Arts brought Halloween vibes with Halloween Shorts, and College and Career Night provided valuable resources for high school students and families. Colleges, the military, and local employers shared scholarship and career info. ππ©βπ¬
π» As October wrapped up, SVUSD schools hosted costume and character parades, ending the month on a creative and festive note. ππ
π SVUSD thanks all parents and families for their support, fostering a strong sense of community. The enthusiasm and engagement in October are a testament to the dedication and spirit of our students and families. π€ππ¨βπ©βπ¦βπ¦

ππ Our fourth-grade Dustdevils took an incredible journey to pay tribute to their heroes! π¦ΈββοΈπ¦ΈββοΈ
π They delved into research and beautifully composed biographies about these inspiring figures, sharing their stories with the world.
π¨ Then, blending their creativity with the Halloween spirit, they worked their magic on pumpkins, crafting unique masterpieces to honor their chosen heroes.
π€© The result is a captivating display that celebrates both these remarkable heroes and the magic of the Halloween season. Bravo, Dustdevils! πππ

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Due to adverse weather conditions and the presence of lightning in a 10 mile area, we will be implementing a delayed dismissal procedure today at PDS (Pueblo Del Sol Elementary School). The safety of our students is of paramount importance, and we are taking these precautions to ensure their well-being. During delayed dismissal all students who ride the bus or walk home will be kept in the school until the lightning has passed.
Also, due to weather, we are canceling today's Good News Club and Tutoring.
Parents are welcome to pick up their students starting now by coming to the office. After 2:55 pm please enter through the office to pick up your students grade Kindergarten through 3rd grade in the library, and 4th through 6th grade in the cafeteria.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these weather-related delays. Your child's safety is our top priority, and we are committed to making informed decisions that ensure their well-being.
Thank you for your consideration and support.
Sincerely,
Sarah Ray
Pueblo Del Sol Elementary School

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are pleased to inform you that the Shelter in Place order at PDS has been lifted, and the situation has been successfully resolved. We want to express our sincere appreciation to our dedicated staff and the police department, for their unwavering commitment to the safety of our students and our school community.
With the Shelter in Place order lifted, students and staff are now free to leave their classrooms and continue their day as usual.
We would like to thank you for your understanding, support, and cooperation throughout this situation. The safety and well-being of our students remain our utmost priority, and we are grateful for your trust in us.
PDS Parents
Out of an abundance of caution, PDS activated a βShelter in Placeβ order due to Sierra Vista Police Department activity in the area.. βShelter in Placeβ means that teaching continues but students are kept in their classroom and not in hallways or outside. During βShelter in Placeβ visitation to the school is closed to everyone but school officials and law enforcement to ensure student safety. Student and staff safety are our number one priority and the βShelter in Placeβ order will be lifted as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
The Dust Devils are proud to support the annual Edward Jones Food Drive. We are collecting non-perishable foods to support local non profit organizations. The Food Drive has started and we are collecting items through November 1st. The class with the most collected items will win a pizza party provided by Edward Jones. Thank you for your support.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying can impact a studentβs education, physical, emotional health, and their safety and well-being.
Together we can create communities that are kinder, more inclusive and accepting for all students. In support of National Bully Prevention Month we are encouraging all SVUSD students and staff to wear orange on October 18th to show unity against bullying.

Does your student have a computer at home for their personal use? Would you like for your student to be creative and explore? Or being able to work on assignments from home on a school device? SVUSD is pleased to offer the opportunity to all parents to check out a home Chromebook for all registered SVUSD students. Through the Emergency Connectivity Fund we were able to purchase Chromebooks for home use in order to close the homework gap and support connectivity for all students. For more information please contact Atina Haynes at Atina.Haynes@svps.k12.az.us or visit the office at your school to receive the application.
