π¬ Exciting day in AP Biology at Buena last week! 𧬠Students delved into the world of genetics by performing a Gel Electrophoresis lab. But this wasn't just any labβit was a real-world application investigating Huntingtonβs disease.
Before diving into the experiment, students explored the intricate causes of Huntingtonβs disease and its inheritance patterns. Using Mendelian Genetics, they predicted the likelihood of the disease being passed on to future generations.
Then came the moment of truth: running DNA samples from a family with a history of Huntingtonβs disease. With bated breath, students analyzed the results to determine if any of the children had inherited the disease. Not only that, they could even predict when symptoms might start to manifest.
Talk about hands-on learning with real-life implications! π #APBiology #Genetics #ScienceIsCool #BuenaIsBest π§¬π
