🌍✨ German Exchange Students Visit Sierra Vista & Buena! ✨🌍 The Sister Cities Club recently hosted 15 students and their two amazing teachers from Sierra Vista’s sister city, Radebeul, Germany! These students spent nearly three weeks immersed in our community, with an incredible week-long stay in Cananea, Mexico—our other sister city—right in the middle. During their visit, they explored Buena High School and traveled across Arizona, from the breathtaking Grand Canyon to the fascinating Desert Museum in Tucson. A huge THANK YOU to all the amazing host families who welcomed them into their homes and made this experience unforgettable! 💙🏡 This visit was a return exchange after five Buena students traveled to Radebeul last fall. 🎉 PDS PBIS FUN! 🎉 Last week, our Dust Devils had a blast playing Red Light, Green Light as part of our PBIS celebrations! 🚦✨ After a refresher on the **cornerstones of PBIS—being respectful, responsible, and safe—**students jumped into the game, showing off their best moves while reinforcing positive behaviors. 🏆 One clear winner emerged, taking home some awesome Dust Devil swag! 🌟 Teacher Feature March: Ms. Leslie Cooley! 🌟 Meet Ms. Leslie Cooley, one of our amazing 3rd grade teachers at Town & Country! Though this is her first year teaching 3rd grade, she brings 20+ years of experience in education, previously serving as a Title I & literacy interventionist and a Special Education para for 10 years. 📚 A Unique Teaching Approach! Ms. Cooley and her colleague, Ms. Thuma, split subjects to enhance learning—Ms. Cooley teaches math & science, while Ms. Thuma covers ELA, writing, and social studies. 🔢 Multiplication Masters! Her students are hard at work mastering multiplication tables, tracking their progress each week. Those who complete all 12 tables will celebrate with an ice cream party at the end of the year! 🍦 🧠 Daily Math Challenges & STEM Fun! She keeps learning exciting with daily math challenges, where students solve word problems for PBIS points or small prizes. STEM Wednesdays bring hands-on activities like building the longest paper chain with only two sheets of paper, a ruler, and scissors! 🐶 Outside the Classroom A Yuma native, Ms. Cooley loves traveling (Maine is a favorite spot! 🌊🏯) and spending time with her mini schnauzers, Muffin & Milo. Dear Huachuca Mountain Families, We are pleased to inform you that school will continue as normal today, Friday, March 28th. The construction company has successfully set up a temporary repair to the sewage system. While they have provided port-a-potties as a precaution, they do not anticipate they will be needed. Over the weekend, the company will continue working on the sewage system to complete full repairs. A special thank you to the City of Sierra Vista and all of the crews who worked tirelessly through the night to ensure we could open school this morning. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we look forward to a great day of learning.

Huachuca Mountain Families. Due to ongoing construction in the area, there is an issue with the sewage pipes affecting Huachuca Mountain. As a result, there is a possibility of a delayed start or even a school closure tomorrow, Friday, March 28th. The construction company is actively working to resolve the issue, and we will provide you with the latest update before school starts in the morning. 🌟 Town & Country Staff Highlight: Ms. Kali Jones! 🌟 At Town & Country, we are incredibly proud to have dedicated staff who make a difference in our students’ lives every day. This month, we are excited to highlight Ms. Kali Jones, our amazing technology paraprofessional, who is now embarking on the journey of becoming a teacher! Ms. Jones has been part of the T&C family for four years, starting as a resource para before taking over the technology position. She works with students from kindergarten through sixth grade, teaching them about digital citizenship, internet safety, password protection, and cyberbullying awareness. She knows how important it is to prepare students for the digital world, ensuring they can safely and responsibly use technology in their daily lives. A 2017 Buena graduate, Ms. Jones grew up with technology, making it second nature to her. She meets with students twice a week for 50 minutes, helping them develop essential skills. She also steps in to support classrooms in math, reading, and writing, always eager to help students grow in every subject. In addition, she plays a key role in running the T&C PBIS store, where students practice logging into accounts, shopping online, and participating in interactive learning activities like Kahoot. "Ms. Jones' ability to integrate innovative tools and resources into her lessons ensures that students are not only learning essential tech concepts but also developing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities." – Principal Elson Her classroom reflects her passion—it’s fully Harry Potter-themed, where students are sorted into houses and earn free time for achieving their goals. She loves watching her students grow and celebrating their successes. Now, as she works toward becoming a teacher, we couldn’t be more excited for her future. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, playing video games, and spending time with her boyfriend and family. Thank you, Ms. Jones, for all that you do! ⚡️🏛️Percy Jackson has taken over Town & Country! 🎲 Sixth-grade students designed Percy Jackson-themed board games before spring break to explore key elements of the book, including setting, plot, theme, and character traits. Players navigated through mythological challenges based on Camp Half-Blood, Olympus, and the Underworld, encountering obstacles that mirrored the novel’s heroic journey. The games featured quests and battles inspired by Percy’s adventures, requiring players to use strategy and Greek mythology knowledge. Themes like friendship, bravery, and destiny were woven into the gameplay, while characters like Percy, Annabeth, and Grover had unique abilities reflecting their strengths. This creative project brought Rick Riordan’s world to life in a fun and interactive way!
